I did not start out talking to homeowners. I started out on job sites, and the thing I noticed over and over was how quiet people got when they did not understand what was happening to their own house. They would nod along while the crew worked and then wait until everyone had left to ask a neighbor what any of it actually meant. That stuck with me more than anything else I picked up out there, and it is most of the reason I do this job the way I do it now.
So I slow that first conversation down. I walk the property with you, I explain what I am seeing without using any trade words, and I lay out the options that cost less right alongside the ones that cost more. If you need a week to think it all over, then take the week. It is your house and your money, and a decision that size should not get made because somebody was standing in your driveway waiting on an answer. I am also easy to reach after the estimate, which is usually when the real questions start showing up. The homeowners I work with tend to know exactly what they are paying for, and why, well before anyone picks up a tool.

If I cannot explain what your house needs in plain language, I have not understood it well enough yet to be asking you for money.
Take the week
Nobody should sign a contract because a consultant was standing in their driveway. Think it over and call me when you are ready.
Reachable after the estimate
The real questions almost never come up during the walkthrough. They come up three days later, and that is when I want you calling me.
