My parents worked long hours and fixed most things around the house themselves, so I grew up understanding what it costs a family to pay someone else to do the work. Before Hybrid Renovations, Robert Montez and I worked at the same contracting company, and we were bothered by the same things. Estimates that moved after the contract was signed. Crews sent out without a plan. Homeowners who could not reach anyone once the deposit cleared. None of it was hard to fix, it just was not a priority for the people above us, so we left and built the company we would have wanted to work for.
I lead our consultant team, and I still go out on consultations myself, because I do not think you can lead people who sit with homeowners if you have stopped doing it. Most of that visit is listening. Homeowners usually know something is wrong before they know what it is, and my job is to look at it, explain it plainly, and give them a number they can plan around. Sometimes that means a smaller project than they expected. That is still the answer I give. I am not in a hurry, and I do not expect anyone to decide while I am standing in their kitchen.
How I work
I look before I price
I measure, get in the attic, and check what nobody wants to look at, because a price built from the curb is a guess.
The number before I leave
I write the scope and the price at your kitchen table, not three days later in an email you have to chase me for.
Reachable after signing
Your project manager runs the job day to day, but I am still the one you call if it drifts from what I described.
